Compono

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 10 October 2026 Last updated: 15 October 2026 Applies to: Compono for iOS

01 Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Azizbek Mizamov, an individual developer trading as PowerApps ("we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with the Compono application for iOS (the "App").

Short version: Compono collects nothing about you. There is no account, no server of ours, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. What you do in the App — your progress and your settings — is stored on this iPhone and nowhere else. The App asks nothing about you, not even your age. The only connection the App makes is to Apple’s App Store, for the Pro purchase.

By downloading or using the App you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

02 Information we collect

We collect none. The App does not send us, or anyone else, any of the following:

  • Name, email address, phone number or any other contact detail
  • Account credentials — the App has no sign-up or login
  • Location data, whether precise or coarse
  • Contacts, photos, calendar, microphone or camera data
  • Device identifiers used for advertising or cross-app tracking (IDFA)
  • Usage analytics, event logs, crash reports, session recordings or heat maps
  • Your age or date of birth (the App does not ask for it)
  • Your answers, your progress, or anything else you do in the App
  • Payment or financial information

The App contains no analytics, attribution, crash-reporting or advertising software development kits, and no web views. We operate no server that receives data from the App. The words, phrases, sentences, fonts and sounds all ship inside the App, so nothing is downloaded while you learn.

Some of what the App keeps about your use of it is described in the next section. That is exactly why the App sends none of it anywhere.

03 Information stored on your device

To remember where you are in the course, Compono keeps the following inside its own sandbox on this iPhone:

ProfileOne record: an identifier the App makes on your iPhone from the time the record is created (it is not linked to you or to any account), that creation time, the language you chose for the explanations and for the App’s own screens, your daily limit of new cards, your reminder time (or none) and an accessibility setting. It holds no age and no date of birth: the App does not ask for one. It also holds an “analytics” switch that is always off and that nothing reads: the App has no analytics.
Learning recordOne card for each meaning of a word, with its spaced-repetition state; and a log with one line for every answer you give: the time, the exercise, your rating, how long you took and, if you got it wrong, which option you chose. It holds no name and no text you typed — the only box you can type into is the search box on the Words screen, and what you search for is not stored.
PurchasesA note of whether Pro is held on this iPhone: which product, how it was obtained and when it was confirmed. No payment details — Apple handles those.
AppearanceWhether you chose light, dark or “match phone”, in a small settings file.
Content packA copy of the words, phrases, sentences and explanations that ship inside the App, kept in the App’s Application Support folder and refreshed when the App updates. It is the App’s content, not yours.
Widget listUp to 24 items from your own words (due first, then the weakest, then the next new ones), each made of a word, its pronunciation, a phrase it is used in, the phrase’s meaning and the word’s meaning. The App writes the list into a storage area shared between the App and its widget (an App Group on this iPhone) every time you open the App or leave it, whether or not you have added a widget; if you have, the widget reads the list from there. It stays on this iPhone and is removed when you delete the App. Words flagged as rude or offensive, and phrases that contain one, are never put in it.

The App adds no name, account or advertising identifier to any of it. The developer never receives any of it, and it is removed when you delete the App. If your iPhone backs up to iCloud or a computer, iOS includes this data in the backup, as it does for any app; that backup is handled by Apple or by your computer, not by us. A backup is also the only way your progress can move to a new iPhone, because Compono has no account and no sync.

04 Device permissions

Compono asks for one permission, and you can refuse it:

  • Notifications — the first-launch setup preselects a daily reminder at 20:00, and iOS shows its permission prompt right after the setup questions. If you choose Not now for the reminder, the App does not ask. If you later choose a time in Settings › Reminder, iOS asks then (it shows the prompt only once). See section 05

It does not ask for, and its Info.plist contains no usage description for, the microphone, camera, location, contacts, photo library, calendar, Bluetooth or tracking: there is no App Tracking Transparency prompt and the App never reads your advertising identifier. Declining notifications leaves the rest of the App usable.

Two short answer sounds are silenced by the Ring/Silent switch and mix with whatever you are already playing, and the App gives a light haptic tick when you change tabs. Neither needs a permission, and the App records nothing.

05 Reminders and the widget

Both are optional. The first-launch setup preselects a daily reminder at 20:00 and lets you choose another time or Not now; the widget appears only if you add it. Both can be read on a locked iPhone, so this is what they carry.

Daily reminderScheduled by iOS on this iPhone — there is no push server and no notification server of ours. A reminder comes at the time you chose, on your iPhone’s own clock (times from 23:00 to 06:59 are not accepted), and not on a day you have already studied: the day’s reminder is removed as soon as you study in the App. Today’s is scheduled only when there is something left to study today (reviews due, or new words left for the day); when there is not, the series starts the next day. The first one says either “One phrase today”, with a phrase from your own queue, or “Today’s review is ready”, followed by an estimate of how many minutes it will take: an estimate of time, never a count of cards or reviews. The days after it (up to 14 are scheduled ahead, and they are replaced each time you open the App or return to it) show the word as the title and a phrase with its meaning as the text, with no number; if you have already studied that day, the reminders start the next day in this form. It is never a streak warning. Words flagged as rude or offensive, and phrases that contain one, never appear in a reminder.
WidgetRotates through the list described in section 03 on the home screen or lock screen (it needs iOS 17 or later). The medium home-screen widget shows a word, its pronunciation, a phrase and the phrase’s meaning; the small home-screen widget a word, its pronunciation and a phrase; the lock-screen widgets a word and a phrase only. It shows no counts. Words flagged as rude or offensive, and phrases that contain one, never appear on it.

Meanings are shown as written. A word that is not flagged can still have a meaning that mentions a sensitive subject, so what a reminder or the widget shows is not guaranteed to be free of one. Anyone who can see your lock screen can read a reminder or a lock-screen widget while it is shown. You can change the time (08:00, 13:00, 20:00 or another time) or turn the reminder off in the App (Settings › Reminder) or in iOS under Settings › Notifications › Compono, and remove the widget as you would any other.

06 Third-party services

The App connects to one thing: Apple’s App Store. It does so through StoreKit, Apple’s own purchase system, to show the price of Pro and to buy or restore it. When you tap Restore Purchases, the App first asks the App Store to bring this iPhone up to date, so iOS may show Apple’s own sign-in sheet for your Apple Account: that sheet is Apple’s, and nothing you type into it reaches the App. Those requests carry nothing you did or learned in the App. There is no other network code in the App: no server of ours, no web views, no remote fonts or content, and no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or attribution software.

The App is built with open-source libraries, including Flutter, drift and SQLite, flutter_local_notifications, home_widget, audioplayers, liquid_glass_widgets, in_app_purchase, url_launcher, path_provider and timezone. They run on your iPhone as part of the App, and none of them collects data.

The App is distributed through the Apple App Store, and Apple independently processes certain information as part of that distribution — for example download and purchase records, aggregated and anonymised usage statistics you may have opted into, and crash reports you choose to share with developers.

That processing is governed by Apple's own privacy policy, not by this one. Any aggregate statistics Apple makes available to us cannot be used to identify an individual user. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details.

The links to this policy, the Terms of Use and our website in the App (Settings › About) open in your web browser; the App itself loads no web pages. This website (powerapps.site) is served as static files. It sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and it remembers your light or dark choice in your own browser’s local storage. It does load a web font from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google's servers to fetch the font file; that request is subject to Google's privacy policy.

07 Purchases

Compono is free to download and offers one optional in-app purchase, Compono Pro — one payment of US$5.99 (the App Store shows the price in your own currency) that opens words 1,001 to 3,000. It is a one-time, non-consumable purchase, never charged again. It is not a subscription and it does not renew.

Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment, and your payment details never reach the developer: we never see or receive your card number, billing address or Apple Account credentials, and we receive no report from Apple that identifies you personally. On the iPhone, the App keeps only a note of whether Pro is held; restoring it on another device is a question put to Apple, not to us. Refunds and billing questions are handled by Apple through your purchase history.

08 Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). It does not ask for anyone’s age or date of birth, or for any other personal information. Because the App collects no personal data from anyone, it collects no personal data from children either. If you believe a child has somehow provided us with personal information, contact us and we will address it.

09 Your rights, and deleting your data

Privacy laws such as the GDPR (European Economic Area and United Kingdom) and the CCPA/CPRA (California) give you rights over your personal data, including the rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or port it, and to opt out of its sale.

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or delete — and we have never sold or shared personal data, because we have none. What the App keeps is on your iPhone, and you control it directly:

  • Deleting the App removes everything it stored, including the profile, learning record, purchase note, settings, content pack and the widget list. Version 1.0 has no “reset” or “delete my data” button inside the App; deleting it is the way
  • Reminders can be turned off in the App or in iOS Settings without deleting anything (section 05)
  • Copies inside backups you made earlier are managed by iOS, by Apple or by your computer, not by us

You may still contact us with any question about this policy.

10 Data security

The App keeps its data inside the iOS application sandbox, protected by the operating system and by your device passcode and encryption. The only connection the App makes is to the App Store, through Apple’s own purchase system, and it carries nothing you did in the App. We hold no database that could be breached, because we hold nothing.

The App has no sign-in or lock of its own: anyone who can unlock your iPhone can open it and see your progress.

11 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App or to legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on this page. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
